About the ingredient
Indian valerian is Valeriana wallichii, also called tagara. It is a separate species from European Valeriana officinalis. Its root has a history in Indian herbal practice.
When it is used
Traditionally used for nervous tension and difficulty falling asleep. Small clinical studies reported improvements in sleep measures; these findings do not establish a treatment for chronic insomnia.
Ingredients
Valeriana wallichii root extract; gelatin in the capsule form.
Use and precautions
Drowsiness may occur. Do not combine with alcohol or sedatives without medical assessment; do not drive if drowsy.
Safety during pregnancy, breastfeeding and childhood has not been established. Persistent insomnia requires assessment of its cause.
Storage
Keep tightly closed in a dry place, protected from sunlight and out of reach of children.
